Since When Did Fried Apples Become a Vegetable?
While in Georgia a few months ago I was in need of some comfort food and I picked Chicken and Dumplings! Yum. Well, it sounded good anyway. I got to pick three vegetables to go along with my meal. So I picked green beans, carrots and fried apples. Who knew?

Well....that's a strech! Why not a fruit instead! Or, maybe a dessert (but only if they added powdered sugar on top)!
It's obvious that they called it a vegetable to make those who shouldn't indulge in such fare feel a little better about the choice!

In Alabama, "macaroni and cheese" are a vegetable on most menus.
I think apples only count as a veg if they're fried. Raw and baked they're definitely fruit!
Chicken, dumplings, and 3 side dishes. Fruit, Vegitable, whatever... that sounds like way to much food to be 'comfortable' :)
Because they were fried in vegetable oil ;)
